Brownes
Brownes – One of Gorey’s oldest Irish Pub’s. Picturesquely located on Gorey’s Main Street, Brownes is a very important part of Gorey town and its heritage, it can be dated back to 1798.
In 2023 The Redmond family took on the honour of running the pub. Before this Joe Browne grew up and worked in Brownes for over 70 years, and it has been in his family for many years, meaning that the sale & transfer in ownership marks the end of an era and the dawn of a new one .. but greatly inspired by it’s past.
Brownes has a unique blend of traditional charm and modern excitement. The traditional Front Bar caters to those in need of a quiet pint with the occasional Trad session & live music, to then entering into the Lounge where you find yourself in a chic Cocktail Bar with upbeat music & boujee booths made for the perfect night out.
Take yourself up further through the smoking area and find the newly opened outdoor Beer Garden, The 45, named after Brownes address, 45 Main Street Gorey. The 45 is a popular place to be when the weather is fine with live music and cocktails.
During Summer months, catch the historic game of Skittles being played outside the pub on it’s street. A game played on the corner of Brownes for over 40 years. A traditional game with it’s roots embedded deep in Irish History, a special part of Brownes.
