Wexford Walking Trails is delighted to invite you to the 2024 Wexford Walking Festival. The trails featured are suitable for all walking abilities. Please be prepared for whatever the weather brings by wearing suitable clothing and footwear and bring snacks and drinks with you on each walk. The festival this year offers a choice of three walks. Why not walk all three!

Day 1: Friday 27th September – Carrigfoyle Trail
Meeting Point: Barntown Community Centre (Eircode Y35 X032)
Time: 6:00pm

Grade: Moderate
The Walk: Walk to Carrigfoyle Lake & return to Barntown Community Centre.
Reception and Festival Launch: 7:30pm at Barntown Community Centre by Councillor Gary Laffan. The new Wexford Walking Trail brochure will be launched by Chief Executive of Wexford County Council, Mr. Eddie Taaffe. A special photographic exhibition ‘Country Connects Captures‘ will take place over the weekend in Barntown Community Centre to celebrate a collaborative project between Wexford Walking Trails, Wexford County Council, Healthy Wexford, the Irish Farmers Association and Creative Ireland Wexford. A selection of beautiful ‘captures’ from our Country Connects walks during the year, will be on display as part of the festival weekend
Day 2: Saturday 28th September – Three Rocks Trail

Option 1: Return walk from Three Rocks to Skeator (13km)
Option 2: Return walk from Three Rocks to Tinacurra (17km)
Grade: Moderate
The Walk: As you walk the Three Rocks Trail, you will find breath-taking landscape, biodiversity in abundance and various sites of historical importance along the way. Three Rocks Trail will lead you along part of the route traversed by the Wexford men during the 1798 Rebellion in Wexford. Local guides will point out historic landmarks and places of interest.
Special Festival Dinner: Join us at 7:00pm at Whitford House Hotel for a festive dinner to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Wexford Walking Festival. The cost is €42.95 per person. Please click here to reserve your place.
Day 3: Carne Trails

Option 1: Return walk to Carnsore Point (7km)
Option 2: Return walk to Cut in the Lake(12km)
Grade: Moderate
The Walks: Explore a beautifully natural coastal path leading to Nethertown beach. This coastal path shows off the vast granite rock formation, best seen at low tide. Black back gulls and terns can be seen perched on the rocks looking for their next meal. Great cormorants can also be seeing drying their wings on the massive granite boulders.
Complimentary refreshments will be served at 1:30pm in the Lighthouse Pub in Carne, to mark the 10th anniversary of Wexford Walking Festival.
