Lizzie Thomas at Jazz at Johnstown
Sensual jazz from The Big Apple
Few contemporary jazz singers can deliver a lyric quite like New York’s Lizzie Thomas, who will star in the last of a trio of Jazz at Johnstown concerts celebrating the female voice.
Hot on the heels of Luisa Annibali’s sold out performance in February, one of the most in demand jazz singers in the Big Apple, Lizzie will perform at Jazz at Johnstown in March alongside a who’s who of superb Irish musicians.
Known for her storytelling, adventurous arrangements and stunning vocal ability, Lizzie’s dedication to the Great American Songbook has solidified her place in New York’s vibrant jazz scene.
Her critically acclaimed albums, New Sounds From The Jazz Age and Duo Encounters, have established her as a leading voice in jazz. The NYC Jazz Record named her one of the best performers to see in the city.
Joining Lizzie on Saturday evening, March 22, at Johnstown Castle, where she will also feature songs from her new recording, Awakening, is a trio from the top drawer of Irish jazz: Nigel Mooney on guitar, Scott Flanigan on organ and rising star Dylan Lynch on drums.
A phenomenal performer, Lizzie loves to explore jazz standards while evolving as a songwriter, blending her classical piano training with a passion for storytelling. ‘I’ve spent a lifetime exploring the jazz canon, the greatest songs ever written,’ she reflects.
